Around The Tigers Blogosphere 9/9/09
September 9th, 2009 | by jelletlambie |On the heels of a bad loss to a bad team, a few roster moves and a shrinking magic number, let’s take another spin round the blogosphere to see what’s being said about the Detroit Tigers.
John at Tigers Tracks recaps last night sour loss to the Royals. It’s always tough to watch bad outfield defense, as John points out.
Kurt from Mack Avenue Tigers lays out the case for Justin Verlander to be this years AL Cy Young Award winner and updates the Tigers chances to win the AL Central.
Ian at Bless You Boys asks the question – Should the Tigers re-sign Fernando Rodney?
When Nate Robertson entered last nights contest more than a few of us wondered how that would impact his projected Friday start. Jason Beck explains that nothing has changed in that department.
Blake over at The Spot Starters gives a detailed breakdown of the Tigers improving playoff prospects. He also projects the Yankees as the likely first round opponent.
Drew Sharp discussed the thankless job of being the Tigers Manager, and lifts Jim Leyland up as the AL Manager of the year. The idea of Drew saying something positive about the Tigers surprised me too.
It seems the seasons of Alfredo Figaro and Dontrelle Willis may be over, color me not surprised.
Kid Rock wants you to vote for Curtis Granderson for the Roberto Clemente Award, honoring community involvement. So do I.
The Raw Feed talks of changes in the Tigers scouting system. Little nuggets like this have more impact than we give credit.
The Flagrant Fan lists Gerald Laird and Ryan Raburn amongst his players connected to the 9/9/09 discussion. Sadly, both are mentioned for their miscues. An interesting read, for what it’s worth.
Mike at The Daily Fungo looks at some events from this day in Tigers History, including Gary Sheffield hitting the 250,000 home run ever in MLB.
And finally Parenthetically Speaking lays out some potential rules for a Detroit Tigers drinking game. I know, it’s a slow news day. At least this one is fun.
That’s all for today, although if you find an interesting tidbit related to the Tigers out there, please send it over.
