Around the Tigers Blogosphere 8/18/09
August 18th, 2009 | by jelletlambie |While the Tigers didn’t play yesterday the team managed to keep very busy with a number of moves. Let’s take a wander around the Tigers blogosphere to see what the community has to say about Aubrey Huff, Jacob Turner, Daniel Fields and other topics.
John over at Tigers Tracks gives his take on the busy Monday.
Kurt from Mack Avenue Tigers tells us why we shouldn’t get too excited about the signing of draft picks. An interesting read for sure.
Lee over at Tiger Tales breaks down how the team defense is benefiting Tigers pitchers. As always, Lee mixes statisitics and opinion nicely.
Bill at the Detroit Tigers Weblog adds his latest minor leage wrap, a sure fire source for news from the farm.
Clayton from American Polymath opines that What the World Needs Now is Rob Deer.
Jeff Polman has put together an unusual and interesting baseball blog – he replays the 1924 season using Strat-O-Matic baseball. Through two fictitious voices he chronicles the season in ole timey fashion.
Greg at Where Have You Gone Johnny Grubb offers up his latest Monday Morning Manager covering the last week that was.
Mike from The Daily Fungo looks back on Doyle Alexander and his shutout against the Red Sox back in the stretch run of the ‘87 season. Nostalgia = fun.
And finally more proof that there is still a good amount of ignorance and garbage being written about the City of Detroit – Grey from Razzball gives his opinions on Aubrey Huff and Detroit, including the following:
The Tigers added Aubrey Huff to complement Jim Leyland’s puff. When the Detroit Free Press hit the streets to find out what Tigers fans thought of this trade, they were met by mixed reactions. Some fans asked for change, others shot at them.
If you’d like to let him know your thoughts on his commentary you can try to post your thoughts on the story through the link above, although he didn’t publish my comment, at least not yet. Or you can email him at info@razzball.com. It’s guys like this that give “sportswriters” a bad name.
