Around the Tigers Blogosphere 7/21/09

July 21st, 2009 | by jelletlambie |

It’s time once again to take another tour of the Detroit Tigers blogosphere. Remember to remain seated with your hands and feet inside the car until the ride has reached a full and complete stop. Here’s a snippit of what I’ve been reading lately, enjoy….

Ian over at Bless You Boys weighs in on the odd, unfolding story of where in the world is Carlos Guillen? He points out the painful, yet seemingly probable scenario that his recall may not have been total. Now get your ass to Mars. Get your ass to Mars. Get your ass to Mars.

The blogger formerly known as Big JP has moved his coverage of the Tigers from Always A Tiger to the brand spankin new Tigers Tracks. John did a great job with the design and continues to provide passionate analysis at his new venue. I highly recommend heading over that way.

Kurt from Mack Avenue Tigers takes a long, hard look at the future of the Tigers beyond 2009 in his piece The Tigers at the trade deadline: Porcello is key. Chock full of contract figures, prospects to watch and the internal debate we all have with the concept of trading prospects for talent, or vice versa.

John at Tiger Geist explores the impact of Joel Zumayas latest injury on the 2010 bullpen and how the Tigers may have to prepare to lose the three pieces at the back end of this years model.

Steve at the Detroit Athletic Co. Blog makes the case that the Tigers have what it takes to win the AL Central.

The Raw Feed profiles Erie Sea Wolves third sacker Santo De Leon following his selection as Eastern League player of the week.

In a story that tugs at the heart strings, The Detroit Tigers Baseball Team Blog profiles Tigers farmhand Eddie Bonine as he pitches through the grief of losing his mom to breast cancer. A powerful story indeed, well worth the read.

Today in Baseball History reminds us that on this day in 1945 Les Mueller pitched 19.2 innings for the Tigers in a gmae with the Philadelphia Atheltics that ended in a 1-1 tie after 24 frames. Wonder how his arm felt the next day?

Steve Kornacki from Mlive highlights the value of some bargain bin Tigers helping this team remain in first place. It’s a good read.

That’s all for today kiddies. If you come across a link you think I’d like please send it my way. You can leave your thoughts in the comments below or drop me a line at jelletlambie@gmail.com
